Buenos Aires, September 2025 – CONUAR, Argentina’s leading manufacturer of nuclear fuel elements and high-precision components, has signed a strategic industrial cooperation agreement with Terra Innovatum, developer of the innovative SOLO™ Micro-Modular Reactor (MMR).
This agreement positions CONUAR as a key industrial partner in the production of critical components for one of the most promising nuclear technologies driving the global clean energy transition.
A Key Milestone in the Global Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Agenda
The SOLO™ Micro-Modular Reactor emerges as an innovative response to today’s energy challenges: delivering safe, reliable, and zero-carbon electricity and heat, even in areas where traditional infrastructure is limited or non-existent.
Designed to provide 1 MWe per module with scalability up to 1 GW, the SOLO™ MMR offers versatile applications across several sectors:
- Hard-to-abate industries like steel, cement, mining, and oil & gas.
- Off-grid and behind-the-meter energy for data centers and urban mini-grids.
- Thermal industrial processes such as water desalination, cogeneration, and wastewater treatment.
- Medical radioisotope production for oncology research and cancer treatment.
Its modular design—based on commercially available components and a proven licensing pathway—reduces supply chain risks and ensures predictable costs, enabling faster and more secure deployment worldwide.
CONUAR’s Role in the Project
Under the agreement, CONUAR will develop and supply essential nuclear components for the SOLO™ reactor’s operation, including:
- Cooling tubes and plates for thermal transfer systems.
- Control rod mechanisms for nuclear reaction management.
- Certified-engineered fuel rod assemblies.
- Specialized components in stainless steels and advanced alloys for extreme operating conditions.
All components will be manufactured at CONUAR’s industrial facilities in Argentina, backed by over 40 years of experience in nuclear manufacturing, non-destructive testing, specialized welding, and full compliance with international standards such as ASME BPVC.
Impact for Argentina and the Region
This partnership aligns with Terra Innovatum’s strategy of establishing regional nuclear supply hubs. As part of this cooperation, future SOLO™ assembly lines are envisioned in South America, positioning Argentina as a leading player in SMR deployment across the region.
The initiative promotes:
- Technology transfer and industrial innovation.
- Skilled job creation and workforce development.
- Diversification of local industries.
- Expansion of national capabilities into international energy markets.

“The SOLO™ represents both innovation and the future. At CONUAR, we are proud to contribute our industrial expertise and technical know-how to make it a reality. This alliance accelerates the arrival of safe, clean, and sustainable energy solutions that will benefit generations to come.”
Rodolfo Kramer, CEO of CONUAR
